Those who have tasted different types of pork ribs
will know that it is one of the best things to have at a BBQ.
So for the benefit for all non-halal BBQ food
lovers, here are some must-try BBQ Pork Rib recipes that’ll blow your taste buds
away.
Recipes 1. Chinese Style BBQ Pork Ribs
Seeing that we are in Asia and we do indeed
take a lot of pride in our food- we figured we should start this off with something that touches home more. The
real secret behind this delight is using our very own char siew sauce. This works best on baby back
pork ribs!
Things You’ll Need:
i.
6 cloves garlic (peeled
and finely chopped)
ii.
1 ½ tablespoons
maltose
iii.
1 ½ tablespoons
honey
iv.
1 ½ tablespoons Hoisin
sauce
v.
1 ½ tablespoons soy
sauce
vi.
1 tablespoon Chinese rose
wine
vii.
3 dashes white pepper
powder
viii.
½ teaspoon five-spice
powder
ix.
½ teaspoon sesame
oil
x.
Salt
How To Do It:
i.
Mix together all the ingredients (except the cloves of
garlic!)
ii.
Heat up the mixture, mix it up well and transfer it to a different
container to cool down
iii.
Rub the pork ribs on the both sides with the garlic
iv.
Put in the pork ribs into the marinating sauce for at least 8
hours
v.
When BBQ-ing, the best is to wrap it up in aluminium foil to really get the
taste deep within the meat
Recipes 2. Your Favourite BBQ Pork Ribs
Why is it definitely your favourite? Well,
because an important part of this recipe depends entirely on your favourite. Best part of this is that you
don’t even really need to marinate the meat over long hours.

Things You’ll Need:
i.
¾
cup of light brown sugar
ii.
1 teaspoon of hickory smoke salt
iii.
1 tablespoon of
paprika
iv.
1 tablespoon of garlic
powder
v.
½
teaspoon ground red pepper (optional)
vi.
2 cups of your favourite BBQ
sauce
How To Do It:
i.
Mix all ingredients together well in a large bowl
ii.
Rub the mixture generously on the pork ribs
iii.
Wrap the sauced-up ribs with the shiny side of aluminum
foil
iv.
Place on grill and BBQ
Recipes 3. Soy & Hoisin BBQ Pork Ribs
Just about every Singaporean knows Hoisin;
but do you know that it can play a rather critical role in your delicious BBQ?
This recipe is great for those who prefer
something that’s not too extreme in their taste.

Things You’ll Need:
i.
6 minced cloves of garlic
ii.
9 tablespoons of grated fresh ginger
iii.
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
iv.
3 tablespoons of dark brown sugar ( or
honey)
v.
12 tablespoons of hoisin sauce
vi.
7 chopped spring onions
How To Do
It:
i.
Mix all ingredients well together
ii.
Place pork ribs in the sauce to marinate for about 4 hours, cover the
container with aluminium foil to lock the taste in
iii.
Steam pork ribs for about 1 hour
iv.
BBQ it on the pit on a short while (this part really brings out
the flavour!)
Recipes 4. Honey Glazed BBQ Pork Ribs
This recipe requires a tad more work than usual,
but trust us when we say- it’ll be worth it! Y’see, you’ll need to prepare the marinating sauce and a
glazing sauce.

Things You’ll Need:
Marinating
Sauce
i.
2 tablespoons of oyster sauce
ii.
2 teaspoons of light soy sauce
iii.
2 tablespoons of char siew sauce
iv.
¼ teaspoon dark soy sauce
v.
2 tablespoons of Chinese cooking wine
vi.
1 tablespoon of sugar
vii.
4 cloves of mashed garlic (leave their skin on)
viii.
4 mashed shallots
Glazing Sauce
i.
2 tablespoons of honey
ii.
¼ teaspoons of dark soy sauce
iii.
1 tablespoon of oil
How To Do It:
i.
Pour in all of the Marinating Sauce ingredients in a bowl and mix
well
ii.
Marinate the pork ribs nicely in the sauce and leave it
overnight
iii.
Place marinated pork ribs on the BBQ pit to cook for about 10
minutes
iv.
Prepare the glazing sauce
v.
Brush glazing sauce generously on pork ribs while flipping in between for 3
minutes
Recipes 5. Coffee BBQ Pork Ribs
We urban-junglers live closely with coffee by our
sides. So why not incorporate this in our ever-delicious BBQ food too?

Things You’ll Need:
i.
2 egg whites
ii.
2 ½ oz. packets instant coffee mix
iii.
3 tablespoons Asian oyster sauce
iv.
3 tablespoons cornstarch
v.
2 tablespoons sugar
vi.
2 red chopped chili
vii.
2 sprigs of spring onions
viii.
½ of cup water
ix.
2 tablespoons of cinnamon powder
x.
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
xi.
a pinch of salt
What To Do:
i.
Marinate the pork ribs in room temperature in a bowl of the egg whites and
a pinch of salt for at least 30 minutes
ii.
Rub in the cornstarch onto the pork ribs and leave it for 10
minutes
iii.
Pour vegetable oil in a high-sided pot and deep fry ribs for 5
minutes
iv.
In another container, add ½ cup of cup, instant coffee mix, oyster sauce
and 1 red chopped chili
v.
Simmer the mixture over medium heat, adding in sugar
vi.
Lower the fire when the sauce thickens and add ribs into
container
vii.
Gently toss pork ribs till fully coated with the sauce
viii.
BBQ the pork ribs
ix.
Serve with dusts of cinnamon powder, chopped spring onions and remaining
chopped chili
